Visual Arts teachers in the Mid West are invited to participate in a professional learning opportunity on Friday 15th September 2017.

Orange High School will host the VADEA Regional Inspire Mid-West professional learning day for visual arts teachers in regional areas for 2017. This is an opportunity to exchange resources, new ideas, programs and learning strategies for teaching Visual Arts, Visual Design and Photographic and Digital Media.

The Orange Regional Gallery will host VADEA Regional Indulge Mid West.

Participants can attend both VADEA Regional Inspire Mid West and VADEA Regional Indulge Mid-West professional learning opportunities or select each independently. Inspire

The focus of Regional Inspire is Stage 4 to Stage 6 Visual Arts. The program format will include a series of presentations by Wendy Ramsay VADEA Co-President Professional Learning, Yvonne Duke VADEA Regional Project Officer, Pauline Frost Head Teacher CAPA, Orange High School, Cassandra Coates and Juanita Fitzpatrick Visual Arts Teachers, Orange High School, Dr Donna Mitchell Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Education and Arts, ACU and Bernadette Wood Visual Arts teacher, Bathurst High Campus, Bill Tink Visual Arts teacher, Kinross Wolaroi School, Elizabeth Sarks CAPA Coordinator, James Sheahan Catholic High School, Warrendine, Brian Shand Visual Arts teacher, Coonabarabran High School.

Presentations will address the dissemination of knowledge, understanding and skills in the making and the critical and historical study of visual arts informed by practice, the conceptual framework and the frames

Each participant is requested to bring a unit of work, program overview or resources to share with colleagues. We invite participants to focus on innovative ways they address the content areas of practice, conceptual framework and the frames.

Indulge

VADEA Regional Indulge is a free VADEA event aimed at bringing VADEA members together to ‘indulge’ in an informal afternoon of art, listen to specialist speakers and make new professional contacts in a collegial atmosphere.

The Indulge program will include curatorial presentations from Sarah Gurich curator of the Mandy Martin exhibition and curator at Bathurst Regional Gallery. Presentations from Brenda Gray Assistant Gallery Director on the exhibition and Brad Hammond Gallery Director, on the NEW Education Program at Orange Regional Gallery.
