Drawing, Painting, Jewellery

This program provides artmaking opportunities for primary teachers to explore a selection of forms and subject matter in the Visual Arts, NSW Creative Arts K-6 Syllabus.

The workshop will be held at Emanuel School on Tuesday 5th December, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm. It will be conducted by VADEA K-6 Project Officer and Visual Arts teacher, Louise Heilpern.

Primary teachers are invited to undertake Visual Arts teaching and learning activities that re ect an artists’ practice in the real world. Working from a choice of two stimuli, either a poem or a symbol, participants will have the opportunity to make three artworks across a variety of media; drawing, miniature abstract painting and sculptural jewellery construction. The workshop will highlight how one artwork can inform the development of other works and become a component in a sequence of responses to a given theme.

The artmaking workshop will focus on:

  • Developing technical skills and awareness
  • Encouraging critical thinking during the artmaking process
  • Ideas for re ection activities, Visual Arts rubrics and grading criteria
