Program Overview
Morning INSPIRE Session
Artworld Connections
Dr Laresa Kosloff makes performative videos, short films, audio works and participatory artworks. Her practice examines various representational strategies, each one linked by an interest in the body and its agency within the everyday. Laresa will discuss her varied artmaking practice and explore her latest film work ‘Radical Acts’ in more detail.
Maria Stoljar is the host and creator of the podcasts and associated videos that explore the studio practice of Australian painters. Talking with Painters sees Stoljar interviewing painters about their practice in a remarkably relaxed and informal style.
There will be a Q&A session at the end of each presentation.
Middle INSPIRE Session
Art Educators in Conversation
A variety of different approaches to the associated challenges to COVID 19 were dealt with in many and varied ways in response to context and circumstances. Jess McCarthy and Steve Little (Mosman High School) will outline the technological solutions they explored and Brian Shand (Coonabarabran High School) will outline his multimodal approaches to remote learning.
A panel discussion led by Nicole DeLosa (Co President – VADEA) will foreground our break-out swap-meet sessions where participants will have the opportunity to share and learn from each other.
Expect a number of take-home solutions that could work in your context.
Afternoon INSPIRE Session
Curriculum Review Panel
Hear from Gemma Baldwin (Co President, VADEA), Dr Karen Maras (UNSW) and Brian Shand (VADEA Executive) as they outline the status of the NSW Curriculum Reform, discuss the consultation that has occurred thus far and the potential impact on the future of Visual Arts education in NSW. In the subsequent break out sessions, participants will explore advocacy strategies they can implement.
Each participant is requested to share a google slide in the Swap-Meet break out session. If you could contribute something that highlights the changes to your practice in 2020, it would be helpful in achieving the days objective.
An information pack will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the event.
The day will also be supported by S&S Wholesale Pty Ltd and Eckersley’s Art and Craft with ‘lucky door’ prizes drawn at the end of the day.
