Accidents Emergencies and Seventeen Black

My recollection, as with all recall, faulty, unreliable, indeed fugitive, of when Foucault surreptitiously colonised my bookshelf by stealth has its ‘origins’ in the early 1990s. Reading Discipline and Punishment (1977) my first sustained encounter with Foucault, and here I well remember, not the gruesome execution of Damien the Regicide, but two other statements compelling in their simplicity.
