The VADEA executive invite VADEA members to a VADEA Collaborate Live presentation, ‘A Woman’s Work Is Never Done’: A Case Study of Three Chinese Artists with art educator, writer and researcher Luise Guest.
Luise has presented in a range of contexts at VADEA conferences and since 2010 her writing about Chinese art has been published in print and online journals including The Journal of Chinese Contemporary Art, Art Monthly Australasia, Artist Profile, Randian, Daily Serving, The Culture Trip and The Art Life. Her first book, “Half the Sky: Conversations with Women Artists in China”, was published in 2016 by Piper Press. Her former role as Manager of Research for the White Rabbit Collection involved her in documenting almost 700 artists and their works, establishing a website, a library and an archive, and writing texts for the gallery. Her current PhD research examines women artists who subvert the conventions of ink painting.
‘A Woman’s Work is Never Done’: A Case Study of Three Chinese Artists will focus on the practice of three artists: Dong Yuan, Gao Rong and Tao Aimin
- Conceptual Framework: Artist/Artwork/World relationships
- Cultural and Structural Frames
- An investigation of materiality and meaning/s in contemporary Chinese art.
Resources to support the case study developed by Luise will be available for VADEA Members.
