Annual Conference

Our annual conferences are a cornerstone of our professional community. Vibrant gatherings where educators, artists, and researchers come together to share knowledge, explore practice, and innovative ideas.

The 2025 conference, Alchemy: Transforming Visual Arts Curriculum and Pedagogy, was a resounding success, featuring compelling keynote presentations, hands-on workshops, and engaging conversations throughout the program. We were honoured to host renowned speakers including Mike Parr, Ben Denham, Dr Kate Coleman, and Juz Kitson, whose diverse perspectives challenged and inspired delegates. Held at the National Art School (NAS) in Darlinghurst, the atmosphere was electric, despite the rain on Friday, the energy and enthusiasm did not wane.

For the first time in VADEA history, the conference sold out, a testament to the incredible community of educators who make this event so special.

This year’s coveted annual pin design was the camera, and limited stock is still available for purchase in our online shop.

Planning is already underway for our 2026 conference, and we look forward to sharing more details later in the year.
